Bio

Hello, please call me Suhail. I'm currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard University Asia Center. I'm a historian specializing in global/international history. My primary research explores Global South efforts to remake the international system following the Second World War.

I received my PhD in History in 2025 from the University of Cambridge, where I was Prince of Wales Student at Trinity College. I also hold a BA with Honours (Highest Distinction) and an MA from the National University of Singapore (NUS). My first book, He Who is Made Lord: Empire, Class and Race in Postwar Singapore, was co-published by ISEAS Publishing and University of Hawai’i Press in 2023.

I'm now working on my second book project. Based on my PhD dissertation, it recovers Malaysian-led initiatives to reform key global institutions—namely the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, and the 'Muslim World'—during the 1950s and the 1960s.

You are welcome to contact me via email.
